Weekly duplicate bridge sessions online using BBO (Members and invited Visitors ONLY)
Thursday nights at 7.30pm and registration will be available 2 hours before the event.
To register, both you and your partner must be on BBO together, one clicks on the event and invites the other (you can pay for your partner here if wanted).
The events are found by going to Competitive, All Tournaments and search at the top right for "CBC" or "YHBC" as an example.
This is a joint venture (Camberley and Yateley & Hawley) and we will be running these as closed events (just for our members).Visitors can join us up to 3 times - to do so, please ensure they contact the Webmaster so they can be added to the online club.
These sessions will be pairs events, 20 boards with a Howell or Mitchell movement. Boards will be played, scored and rated for Master Points and NGS (just as it would be in the club!).
We run at 7 minutes per board - please try your best to keep to time as BBO cuts off promptly and boards are removed unless we spot the slow table in time to extend the time!
Results are posted on both club websites and they will appear as a normal club session would (double dummy, red to green for scores, analysis per board for pairs scores etc).
To make this work, please add your BBO name to the website (in the main menu or link below). If you haven't registered on BBO, there is a BBO Guide link below also.
We will be directing ourselves (thanks to all those involved!) and there will be a cost to pay on registration of $3.
To pay, you will need to buy some BB$. This can be done from the BBO home page, top right and simply use a debit/credit card or PayPal to buy (batches of $10 from 10 to 200).
*** IMPORTANT NOTE: Please only buy BB$ from the website as described above, if you buy from the App or any other method, you will be charged a lot more for the BB$ ***
If you cannot (or don't want to) buy BB$, your partner has the option to pay for you on registration and you could pay them back later.
If you do not have a partner there are steps you can take:
1. Use the FAP services on our websites then register as pair once found on BBO
2. If you do not find a partner, go to the event on BBO, click on Partnership Desk and see if anyone is registered and looking
3. Add your name to the Partnership Desk (click one of the blue buttons at the bottom) and hopefully, someone will find you!
You will have to pay to register or add your name, but, if you do not play then no money will be taken.
From the Partnership desk, you can also see other members who are looking - feel free to invite them to play. Their BBO name will show but on our websites, you can see who the name relates to!
In BBO - you self-alert. All bids that "mean something" are alerted, this includes 1NT and responses, weak or strong 2s/3/4s, Slam conventions etc.
To do this, click on the level of the bid then type in the message box what it means and click alert. Now complete the bid by clicking the suit. Ops see this but your partner does not.
If you forget to alert, say: 1NT, Pass, 2♣ After you make the 2♣ you click on the 2♣ bid yourself, type "Stayman" and OK. Ops now see this.
Although the events will be restricted to our membership, BBO does not allow a sit-out. If there is a sit-out, we will look for substitutes from players online (our members first then anyone). This means we may have a random pair in any event.
When you play, at the start of each round, please try to greet your Ops with your names and system as they won't always know from the BBO Names who you are!
You can have your Names and brief systems details saved on a word file, text file, draft email etc and then copy and paste it into the chat at the start of the round (on a Windows device, CTRL-C and CTRL-V wll copy and paste)
