You are booking to play in the EBU Masters Pairs for the Ann Staveley trophy. This is a heat of a national competition which will be held at the clubhouse, on Sunday, 22 February 2026. To enter, you and your partner must both have a Master Point rank of less than Regional Master on 1st January 2026.
Master Points
Green Points are awarded throughout, both for session results and for final ranking. Session awards go to the top 1/4 of the overall field based on the session scores alone. In addition, ranking points go to the top 1/2 of the overall field based on the two-session total score. Session awards and final ranking awards are cumulative. The results will be stratified - see below.
Stratification
In a recent change, stratification will be based on NGS grades (the average of the individual grades for both members of each pair). Details will not be announced in advance, but will be determined once the strength of the field is known, and arranged so that approximately 50% of the National field qualifies for the B stratification and 25% for the C stratification. No players with hidden NGS will be able to be in the B or C strat group.
Play will start at 1:00pm. Please be seated by 12:50am so we can start on time. There will be two sessions of approximately 18 boards each with a break in between (36 boards all together). Tea/coffee and biscuits are included at the break. Sandwiches and salads are available to order for the break. Expected finish time is 6:15pm.
Entry fee £10.00 per person. If you are eligible for free entry, please notify the EBU direct who will make a refund of the entry fee to your EBU account.
The event is licensed by the EBU. Up to Level 4 conventions are permitted. Your director is Steve Foster.
Members' accounts will be charged with the entry fee. Visitors and guests please pay on the day by debit or credit card (no Amex or cash).
