Dr Ivor McGloughlin September 2021

Ivor was born in Harrow and in 1941 was evacuated (on the morning of the night of the first bombing of London) to Rochester, New York, USA. He graduated from Irondequoit High School in just 3 instead of the usual 4 years before returning to London in 1944.

Ivor earned his Ph.D. in statistics at University College London his special subject being 'Some Problems in Association and Correlation’. After working in Operational Research in London he moved to Market Research and was a director at Attwood Statistics Ltd and Taylor Nelson and Associates. He then moved to Canada to become technical director at International Surveys Ltd. He joined Management Science Associates in Pittsburgh as a vice-president in 1983 and has worked in their New York, Chicago and Pittsburgh Offices. He has spoken at courses, seminars and conferences on Statistics and Market Research and has had a number of papers published.

Ivor began playing bridge at an early age and played for the first University of London team. He played at many tournaments in both North America and Europe and was a Silver Life Master in the US and a County Master in England. He won a gold medal at an Olympiad in Cleveland in 2003. He started directing and teaching bridge on cruise ships in 2000 and had been on over 30 cruises. He was certified as a bridge teacher and director in both North America and England.

He died peacefully, aged 92. Previously, he was fully active as seen in the photo taken just 6 weeks before he died and he played his last bridge game on 3rd September.

After battling with cancer Roy passed away peacefully on 20th March 2021. He was married to Susan for 41 years, and was a popular and much loved member of Wimbledon Bridge Club. He always looked forward to, and enjoyed playing his bridge at Wimbledon Bridge Club.

We will all miss him dearly - RIP.

Eve Reynolds 4 Aug 1915 - 27 Jan 2021
Eve lived to the wonderful age of 105 and her bridge brain was as sharp at the end as it always was. She was still interested in what was going on in the world and still read a newspaper. She worked at County Hall until she retired at 60. She was always very good at sport and played in the tennis team at Spencer until she took up golf when she retired. She became very good at golf and was Lady Captain in the 1980s. She led a full and active life and was a popular member of her tennis club and golf club with lots of friends. She was a longtime member of Wimbledon Bridge Club where she played on Tuesday and Friday mornings, mostly with her friend Annette King.
