You are booking for the Declarer Play 4-week Course, led by Luiz Lima.  Sessions will be held at the Clubhouse on Tuesdays at 10:30am starting on 14th July and ending on 4th August.  Each session is about 2 hours.

This mini-course is designed for players who have completed at least terms 1 and 2 of the Beginner’s Course and would like to strengthen their Declarer play. It is particularly suitable for those attending Supervised Play and Supervised Duplicate sessions.  There is no need to have a partner - but of course please feel free to invite someone along as your partner if you wish to build your partnership understanding together.

Each session costs £20, with the full course costing £80.  Don't worry if you can't attend any one week.

All sessions are highly practical and based on pre-dealt, prepared hands played in class. The course will cover the following topics:

Week 1 – Suit Combinations

• Establishing suits
• Unblocking
• Basic finesses
• Recognising common suit patterns

Week 2 – Communication

• Managing entries between hands
• Preserving communication
• Planning the order of play

Week 3 – Planning No Trump Contracts

• Counting winners
• Creating extra tricks
• Identifying dangers
• Introduction to hold-up play

Week 4 – Planning Suit Contracts

• Counting winners and losers
• Managing trumps effectively
• Eliminating losers
• Basic declarer planning

Minimum 9, maximum 15 participants per session (tables of three required)
