Wimbledon Bridge Club is one of the best bridge clubs in the UK, catering for players of all abilities.

We offer duplicate bridge for all levels and a Learning programme from complete beginners to intermediate players, Our dedicated clubhouse has a licenced bar with refreshments available at all sessions. We are an EBU affiliated club and Master Points and NGS are awarded for qualifying sessions.

Bridge is the most exciting and challenging card game there is. It is mentally stimulating and endlessly engaging and Wimbledon Bridge Club is here to help you on your way to play.

We offer courses for all levels from complete beginner to intermediate players and Play and Learn sessions for guided practice. Minibridge card play sessions are an ideal introduction to the game for all ages.

Latest News - October 2026

Kim Essex - 9th October 2026

We are very sad to report the death in hospital last Friday 9th October of Kim Essex, a well-loved player in the Tuesday and Friday morning duplicate sessions. She was sociable, witty and kind - and immensely proud of her Yorkshire roots. Kim started at WBC in Beginner Classes in 2018 and will be much missed, particularly by the cohort of that vintage including her regular partners, Sushma and Sue.

A card for messages of condolence to be sent to her family is currently by the water cooler at the club - Please do sign and send any messages you have for them.

Learn Bridge in a Weekend with Ned Paul 24-25 October

We are delighted to announce that Ned Paul will be running his "Learn Bridge in a Weekend" course at Wimbledon Bridge Club in October 2026. Ned is a full-time professional bridge teacher and has run the weekend courses for over 10 years with excellent results. Ideal for busy people who don't want to commit to 10-week courses. Families and juniors welcome, minimum recommended age 14. As well as two days of bridge tuition and playing practice, you will get full course notes, lunch on both days and membership of Wimbledon Bridge Club to 31 March 2027. New Session: Supervised Play, Tuesdays at 19:30 to 21:30 starting 6th October

Supervised play is the first step out of the classroom - bid and play at your own pace with help when you need. Suitable for students who have completed a few lessons on bidding and want to put what they have learnt into practice. No movement and no recorded scores. Members £8, visitors £11.

The games are listed as MBC & WBC. All games are 18-board duplicates with Master Points. NGS calculated if sufficient players are EBU members.

Going to be LATE?

If you are going to arrive later than 10 mins before the start of the session, it is essential that you call the club on 0208 947 0147 at least 15 minutes beforehand so that you can be included in the movement. If you don't do this you may not be able to play.

Hosting and Arriving without a Partner

If you do not have a partner for an occasional session, a host is normally available to make up numbers. If you do come on your own, please arrive at the Club at least 20 minutes before the start of play so that you can be partnered in good time with another single player or the host without causing delay to the start of play.

Members with an NGS of at least 4 are asked to volunteer to host a minimum of once a year and preferably twice. To host at any session other than supervised sessions, and Tuesday or Friday mornings, you should have an NGS ranking of at least 6. Please be kind and courteous to your partner and remember that it is important to find yourself a regular partner and not rely on the host system entirely.

Hosts and single players should arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of play, so the director can organise partners.

Best Behaviour at Bridge

Regular sessions at WBC are intended to provide a friendly and enjoyable environment to play the game of Bridge, and members should conduct themselves in the spirit of this aim. If you feel you have been affected by anything at the table that is not in the spirit of the Best Behaviour at Bridge code then the director should be called immediately. The other players should not retaliate or enter into an argument or discussion. Please click here to see the BB@B code. It is hoped that most incidents can be resolved at the time. If any player wishes to make a formal complaint, they should do so at the time so that the director can complete the appropriate report, which must be signed by all parties. Where the incident occurs outside a play session or, if occurring at a play session is, for a valid reason not reported to the director, it must be reported in writing (or via e-mail) to the Chair or Secretary of the Club within two weeks of the incident.
