Wimbledon Bridge Club was established as a members' club in 1986 and has grown into one of the best bridge clubs in the UK, catering for players of all abilities.

We offer duplicate bridge for all levels and a Learning programme from complete beginners to intermediate players,  Our dedicated clubhouse has a licenced bar with refreshments available at all sessions.  We are an English Bridge Union affiliated club and Master Points and NGS are awarded for qualifying sessions.

LEARN BRIDGE

Bridge is the most exciting and challenging card game there is.  It is mentally stimulating and endlessly engaging and Wimbledon Bridge Club is here to help you on your way to play.

We offer courses for all levels from complete beginner to intermediate players and Play and Learn sessions for guided practice.  Minibridge card play sessions are an ideal introduction to the game for all ages.

40th Anniversary Week 12th to 18th April 2026


It was a year in the planning and suddenly it's all over but what a week that was!  40 commemorative medals, 14 sessions, 116 bottles of wine and prosecco, 202 tables, and about 700 pieces of cake!  We hope you enjoyed the week and tried something new!

Surrey County Pairs Cup, 19th April 2026
We are delighted to see that the winners of the Surrey County Pairs Cup are WBC members Conor Murphy and Imogen Davies.  The top 14 pairs from the 26 board qualifier play for the Cup and the remaining pairs play for the plate.  It was a close competition, with Conor and Imogen winning on a split tie.
Annette King - Memorial Mass Service

Annette's Memorial Mass will be on Friday 24th April at 12noon at the Sacred Heart Church, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, SW19 4LU.

Following the mass, there will be refreshments in the church lounge.

Improver Cup Winners, 8th April 2026

Congratulations to Tania Tyatina and Maria Nicholson, who won the Improvers Competition for the Hilary Stewart Cup.  It was a close competition, with the top 4 pairs all scoring over 60%.

40th Anniversary Newsletter

Good Friday - open for the Individual only at 11am. No regular morning or afternoon session

Saturday 4th April - MiniBridge card play 11am, Duplicate 2pm, Supervised Play 2pm

Gwyneth Sather Novice Cup, 25th March 2026

The Novice Champions 2026 are Sarah Field and Sarah Putt, shown here with the Gwyneth Sather Cup.

Second were John Chang and Carmel Williams and third were Nawshrat Dhalla and Gwyneth Davies.

Congratulations to all who played, including some of our new beginners, and many partnerships playing in a duplicate event for the first time.

Our New Zebra Crossing

For many years, approaches have been made to Merton Council to ask for a Zebra Crossing on Worple Road near the club.  Last year, WBC member Julie Grainger met with the Councillor and started a petition to install a crossing.  As you will have seen, the Council listened and in February, the new crossing was installed.  Thanks to Julie for taking the initiative.

Ladies and Men's Pairs Champs! 8th March 2026
In the Championship held on Sunday 8th March, the winners of the Men's Pairs were Graham Cunningham and Kevin Robins.  The Ladies Pairs Champions are Janet Cahm and Hilary Stewart.

Going to be LATE?

If you are going to arrive later than 10 mins before the start of the session, it is essential that you call the club on 0208 947 0147  at least 15 minutes beforehand so that you can be included in the movement. If you don't do this you may not be able to play.

Best Behaviour at Bridge

Regular sessions at WBC are intended to provide a friendly and enjoyable environment to play the game of Bridge, and members should conduct themselves in the spirit of this aim.  If you feel you have been affected by anything at the table that is not in the spirit of the Best Behaviour at Bridge code then the director should be called immediately.  The other players should not retaliate or enter into an argument or discussion.  Please click here to see the BB@B code.  It is hoped that most incidents can be resolved at the time.  If any player wishes to make a formal complaint, they should do so at the time so that the director can complete the appropriate report, which must be signed by all parties.  Where the incident occurs outside a play session or, if occurring at a play session is, for a valid reason not reported to the director, it must be reported in writing (or via e-mail) to the Chair or Secretary of the Club within two weeks of the incident.
