ANY MEMBER CAN PLAY IN ALL THESE COMPETITIONS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY ARE RESTRICTED TO CERTAIN DAYS
Kit Davidge Individual
Biennial competition held on alternate Tuesdays and Fridays during March.
Kit was one of the founder members of the club and played until she was in her early nineties. An individual competition was introduced in 2000 in her memory. Since 2017 the competition has been played in alternate years with the random teams event.
Paul Wickham Random Teams
Biennial competition held on alternate Tuesdays and Fridays during March.
Paul taught bridge for more than 30 years and was the popular proprietor of WBC for many years. When he handed the club back to its members in 2017 he was presented with a trophy for a new competition of his choosing. Members play with their regular partner and draw for team mates.
Anne Harris Trophy
Annual competition held on alternate Tuesdays and Fridays during May.
Anne was also a founder member of the club and for many years after it became a members' club she ran it singlehandedly, taking on the role of director, scorer and treasurer herself. When she moved away from the area to be closer to family in 2018 she presented the club with a glass vase on a plinth to be played as an open competition for any pairs regardless of gender.
Sydney Turner Mixed Pairs
Annual competition held on the last Wednesday during August.
Sydney Turner was a founder member of the club serving as the club's first treasurer. He enjoyed playing with lady partners and the Mixed Pairs competition was introduced in his honour in 2002 when he was still playing at the club.
Sydney Turner Men's Pairs and Sydney Turner Ladies' Pairs
Annual competitions held on the Wednesday following the Mixed Pairs competition.
These competitions were introduced to complement the Mixed Pairs event. When Sydney became aware that there was no trophy for the winners he donated the 2 goblets to be donated annually.
