I set out 5 tables - more in hope than expectation - fully prepared to play the Howell movement, but we managed to fill all the tables so thank you to everyone for coming.

There were some weird hands, though, in fact none of them were straightforward and not one of the boards produced an even score; there wasn't even one that had 5 scores to N/S or E/W which is unusual. So well done to Ann and Kath who managed the "ünexpected" better than everyone else.

We were concerned that the lovely weather would decrease the numbers significantly but still had 22 players. The North Side pairs sat out and the movement went fine with no problems, so in the future we'll alternate EW/NW sitting out when we have a half table. Well done Margaret and Judy for finding partners and keeping the numbers up.

Though NONE of the committee members played this Thursday, 18 members did play, thank you all for supporting the club. The great news is that we welcomed 2 new members so we had a full 5 tables.One Hundred Thousand welcomes to Tracey and Yvonne, it's great to have you join us.

Ann and Kath bid and made a small slam and that put them top of the NS pairs, well done.

Only 4 tables this week, so we played a Howell movement and everyone got to play against everyone else. Dorothy and Eric came top and everyone missed the slam in Diamonds on board 15 without any pair even bidding a game, every East West couple made either 12 or 13 tricks.

We wil have quite a few absentees next week so I'll call next Tuesday/Wednesday to make sure we have enough players.
