Change to Afternoon Bridge in January |
Thank you to all who responded to the email about the future of the club. There was a big majority in favour of afternoon bridge and a smaller majority preferring Poundbury to Preston. This is what we have decided to do over the next two months.
Bridge will continue as usual on Thursday evenings at the Church Rooms in Preston until the 12th December.
In the New Year bridge will recommence at the Brownsword Hall, Pummery Square , Poundbury DT1 3GW on Wednesday 8th January. Start time is 2.00pm - please try to arrive by 1.45 pm.
These sessions in Poundbury will run every Wednesday throughout January 2025 as a trial period, and at the end of January we will decide how to go forward. We still have the option of playing on Wednesday afternoons at Preston if this what members prefer. Note that there will be no bridge at Preston during January.
Please try and join us for bridge over the next few months, as we will only be able to carry on if we have sufficient support.

Iain Climie |
Some of you may know that Iain Climie is no longer working in Weymouth and unable to join us for bridge. Iain has been a huge help in keeping the club running for the last year and we wish him well. He has sent this message to you all.
"Just a quick word of thanks for all the company, competition and (above all) tolerance. The first session I played was with Joan Meech back in 2017 and most sessions have been with Chris Stevens, including the very last one. I also realised I'd partnered Jan, Avis Barwell, Tulay, Dorota, Ann Sharples, Judy Petran, Jo Petran (I think), Alastair Cowley, Michael Wiles, John Cruickshank, Morgan Bunday and Bob Mott. Many thanks to you all and my apologies if I've missed anyone off.
"The latest position is that if I get the job I'm after (a 6 month contract), I hope to be working back in Weymouth after that and, in any case, I'm definitely pencilling in a holiday down in Weymouth so will see you all sometime. All the very best for the future to you all and for the club; I hope to see you in the not too distant future."
