The Club warmly welcomes members and visitors of all ages and skill levels. We meet for duplicate pairs each Tuesday and Thursday at The Old School in Cuckfield. Find out more by clicking here.

If you would like to join us for the first time, please come along with a partner or contact Club Secretary Neil Watts at secretary@westsussexbc.co.uk.

Charity Summer Pairs

On Thursday, 9th July, WSBC will be holding a Charity Simultaneous Pairs event in aid of Kidney Research UK and British Heart Foundation. The cost is £5 in cash please (vouchers not accepted) and additional donations are welcome. All table money goes to the charities. There is no need to sign up in advance, just show up for the usual Thursday evening game that starts at 7.00 pm.

May Winners

At the end of each month, winners are awarded prizes for handicapped results based on their best three Tuesday evening sessions played during the month. Please join us in congratulating our May champions, Richard Markwick and Sue Porter.

  Peter Berry

Winners of free plays for any games played during June are Sue Cutler and Richard Begley. Their names were drawn in our monthly prize drawing based on attendance which took place at our evening game on Tuesday, 2nd June.

WhatsApp Group for Finding a Partner

The WSBC WhatsApp group helps members find bridge partners, complementary to the Find-a-Partner message board here on the website, and members are welcome to use either or both methods to help find either a regular or one-game-only partner. If you're a WhatsApp user and would like to join the group, please contact Jane Lawrence via webmaster@westsussexbc.co.uk.

Monthly Prizes

In addition to our annual competitions, members may win unlimited free plays based on monthly attendance at face-to-face Club sessions. To be eligible to enter the monthly prize drawing, members must have played at The Old School at least 3 times during the preceding month. Those who have played at least 6 times will have 2 entries to the draw and those who have played at least 9 times will have 3 entries. The draw will take place at the first session of each month before play begins and two winners will be chosen at random on the picker wheel. Winners are then excluded from the following month's prize draw. A list of eligible members for both current and previous months can be seen by selecting Competitions on the menu.

For those members who like to play on Tuesday evenings, a prize is awarded each month based on the handicapped results of at least 3 sessions in the month.

Convention Cards and Partnership Agreements

Whilst not making it compulsory, the Committee would like to encourage all partnerships to have an agreed convention card. You can use your own layout, fill in one of the blank formats to be found on the EBU website or use the simple form on the front page of the score card. The EBU website has some suggested convention cards for basic systems. Having a written partnership agreement obviously helps consistency in bidding and playing and also improving your bridge.
