Jackie Clinton Venture Pairs
This annual event, held this year on 14th March, was well attended with 32 participants. The field was divided into two halves based on NGS rankings and then a random draw paired one player from each half together. Jackie Clinton, whose husband Bill donated the prizes, would have been delighted that the Club continues to respect her wishes for the format of this event.
The afternoon saw a very impressive win for Sue Porter and David Glossop. The runners-up were Chris Gray and Richard Markwick. Jill Hatley helped the Chairman take the last spot on the podium! Everyone enjoyed an afternoon tea to go with their serving of bridge hands for a good cause. £220 was collected, all of which will be donated to the MND charity.
WSBC Chairman Colin Mallows would like to thank everyone who helped make the event run smoothly and hopes to see you all again next year.

Big Win for WSBC!
Congratulations to Colin Mallows and David Williams, who came top in the 2026 SCCBA Simultaneous Pairs charity event which took place the week of 16th February. They beat 131 Sussex pairs to win the Joe Gibson Trophy and did us all proud.
Even if you didn't play in any of the heats, you will find the hand commentaries by Neil Watts interesting and informative.

Known prior to 2016 as the Eric Valentine Reeves Memorial Prize, the Mixed Pairs Championship is played as close as possible to Valentine's Day; this year the event fell on Tuesday, 17th February. In addition to the overall winners, a Flitch prize is awarded to the leading married pair, and, for the second year running, our 2026 winners are David and Andrea Galpin.

Monthly Prizes
In addition to our annual competitions, members may win unlimited free plays based on monthly attendance at face-to-face Club sessions. To be eligible to enter the monthly prize drawing, members must have played at The Old School at least 3 times during the preceding month. Those who have played at least 6 times will have 2 entries to the draw and those who have played at least 9 times will have 3 entries. The draw will take place at the first session of each month before play begins and two winners will be chosen at random on the picker wheel. Winners are then excluded from the following month's prize draw. A list of eligible members for both current and previous months can be seen by selecting Competitions on the menu.
For those members who like to play on Tuesday evenings, a prize is awarded each month based on the handicapped results of at least 3 sessions in the month.
