On Monday 30th July 2018 we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of WESTS CITY BRIDGE CLUB NEWCASTLE (originally Merewether South Bridge Club). What a wonderful day it was !!! Many members and former members came along to enjoy the celebration, including one of our favourites, June Davidson. Before we began our celebrations, bridge was played until 12.30pm with the winners receiving chocolates - congratulations to Judy Dwyer & John Burns (N/S), as well as Judith Hayes & Diann Miller (E/W).  Jan Roberts organised a decadent celebratory cake which was cut by our one and only Foundation Member, Laurie Sewell.  The delicious chocolate mud cake made a beautiful dessert which finished off our lunch just perfectly !!! As you will see in one of the photos below, we also managed to polish off quite a few bottles of champagne - very fitting for such a lovely celebration.  EVERYONE was happy & there were alot of laughs - was it the champagne or the celebration ?? I think BOTH !!! Huge CONGRATULATIONS must go to Laurie Sewell on being awarded a LIFE MEMBERSHIP of the Club by our President Andrew Toyne.  And in finishing, may the competitive play and friendliness of our members continue on for another 30 years !!!!!

As you all would have noticed, our numbers are increasing. The most tables we have had so far is 11 tables - that's 44 players !!! We are averaging around 9-10 tables of late, which is really great. This means that people are enjoying playing here and are returning.  A big THANK YOU to all members for welcoming all the newcomers & helping them feel comfortable  at our Bridge Club.
