Committee Meeting 27th March 2017

Present: Tim Anderson, Dave Beaumont, Shiona Dawson, Ian Dovey, Clive Goode,
David Hazeldine (Chair)
1. Matters Arising From Previous Meeting
2. Treasurer’s Report
We need just under 8 tables a week to break even. At the moment we are averaging 6/7
tables so are losing around £5 a week. This is not a cause for concern in the immediate
future and so the committee are proposing that the subscription remains at £15/year and
the tables fees at £2 for members and £3 for guests.
3. Membership and ways to increase
The committee continue to examine a number of approaches for attracting new members
and various options are being considered to ensure that the WBBC continues in the long
4. Venue
The current venue is adequate but not ideal. The room is a bit barren and can be quite
noisy. Now that the Arena is open again we should check it out. Action: DH
Also, it could be worthwhile re-visiting one of the venues that we originally rejected due to
on-going improvements. Action: SD
5. Teams of Eight
The committee once again discussed the question of how many teams to enter in the
Nottinghamshire Teams of Eight. This year it has become very difficult field a second team,
and with the impending loss of 2/3 potential team members it has been decided to enter a
single team for the 2017/2018 season.
6. AGM
The club AGM will be held on Monday 24th April and will be followed by (free) Bridge as
normal. Tim Anderson is not standing for re-election to the committee and so two of his
current tasks (Web-site and Directors Rota) need to be re-allocated. CG will take over the
web-site and SD the Rota).
7. AOB
No club competitions were run this year. A decision of how to proceed in the coming year
will be made at the next committee meeting.
