Many congratulations to Philip Bond and Tony Osborne who won the Marjorie Lukyn Final on Sunday. Following heats that were held around the County there were 20 pairs taking part in the Final; Philip and Tony won by a margin of 4% against this top field.

Also from WBBC, Darren and Julia Reece who normally feel more comfortable playing at the Social and Gentle bridge decided to take on these County heavy weights!  Well done to them not only for giving it a go, but coming 9th and scoring a very commendable 52.78%.

The club runs an online session on Friday evenings on BBO, starting at 7.30 pm. It is usually 20 hands, finishing around 10.00 pm, and is open to all club members. Do try and take part to boost the numbers. 

If you haven't played in this session before and would like to play, please let us know your BBO username, so that you will be accepted into the tournament. 

On BBO, you can find the Event, by clicking on "Competitive", then "All Tournaments" and then typing "Watford" into the Search box. It is listed as "Watford & Harlow Knights". 

The fee for playing is $3 on BBO. So, beforehand, you need to make sure that you have deposited some money into BBO (it's all in dollars). The $3 will automatically be deducted from your account. 

Our club now operates a cashless system for members.  An invoice will be raised online and members will be sent a monthly statement at the end of the month showing what they have been charged and payments that they have made.  Members should make an online bank transfer to the club just once a month or even less often if you wish to prepay or set up a standing order (all of which makes life very simple for the Treasurer) thank you.  Members are kindly requested to pay VERY promptly on statement if there are outstanding balances.

If possible, Visitors will also be required to pay by bank transfer after receipt of an invoice - this will generally be £3 per game or £5 if it is a SIMS.  First Time visitors are requested to complete the online Visitor Form at least 24 hours before playing. 

Details of how and when to pay is on the invoices and monthly statements pay will be on the statements each month. 

In order to cut down on unnecessary coffee cup wastage, if you would like to have tea or coffee, we are asking all members to bring their own reusable coffee cup.

We plan to be strict about supplying tea and coffee if you don't have a cup.

The Gentle Section on Tuesday evenings is proving very popular and is aimed at players who have around 2 years experience and more experienced players who would prefer not to play in the main section. It is shorter than the main session (about 18 boards), so would also be suitable if you don't like a late finish.  It starts at 7:30 at the same time as the main section - please arrive no later than 7:15.  Do come along and enjoy a good game played at a reasonable pace.  Please note that if you are less experienced then our Monday morning game is for entry level.  If you have any questions then email us on the club email wbbcmembership@proton.me.  

Monday morning Gentle bridge sessions run from 9.45am to 11.45am. This is a gentle session aimed mainly at Improvers and those who come to supervised bridge. The cost is £3 and we aim to play about 14 boards. You are welcome to come without a partner - we will find someone to partner you.

Our Face to Face Thursday morning is now very popular. This duplicate bridge session runs from about 10.00-12.30 and is usually around 18 boards.  Please arrive no later than 9.45 for a 10.00 start. The session attracts EBU masterpoints but is not NGS ranked.  The charge is £3. As a change from how the session used to operate you will need to come along with a partner.

Since we are approaching our maximum capacity of about 24 tables for this session, this session is now for Members Only - no visitors please.
