4-Jul-26 Avoiding the Danger Hand Part 1

A key part of good declarer play is spotting which defender you can’t afford to let win the trick—and knowing how to stop it from happening. In this lesson, we’ll look at how to identify the danger hand and the best ways to keep that opponent off lead.

Phill’s relaxed, friendly teaching style, combined with practical examples and lots of hands to try, makes learning both enjoyable and effective.

“Third Hand High” has been around since long before bridge — and it still works. But there are times when going high is exactly the wrong thing to do.

Come along and learn the rule, the exceptions, and how to tell the difference.

VBC GNOT HEAT - June 15th, 22nd and 29th

A 3 week VBC club event held online on Real Bridge. Open to all (Visitors Welcome). Commences each night at 7:30pm. Players are requested to be seated by 7:15pm.

This is a qualifying heat for the GNOT Metro Final to be held on 30th August 2026 at the VBC. It is a GOLD point Event

The fee is our standard $12 per session per person plus $66 charged per team by the ABF

A 2 week VBC club GREEN POINT event held online on Real Bridge. Open to all (Visitors Welcome). Commences each night at 7:30pm. Players are requested to be seated by 7:15pm.

Bridge Victoria Teams of 3 - August 2nd

Entries are now open for the annual Teams of Three, one of Bridge Victoria’s most popular and rewarding events of the year.
You enter as a team of three, and an experienced player is assigned as your Team Captain. Your Captain will coach your team over two sessions of three matches, playing a session with each team member. Players who have participated in the past have found it to be both a thoroughly enjoyable day and a highly valuable learning experience. As an added bonus, this is a RED POINT event.
