BRIDGE CORPORATION BOARD MINUTES AUGUST 28, 2023

David Nelmark called the meeting to order at 4:41 pm. David Nelmark, Jessica Chance, Brad Albers, Bob
Yeates, Ron Nielsen and Denise Dornbier were present. Phil Hayne and Jim McGinn were absent.
David discussed the regional tourney and Stars of Tomorrow tournament. The unit board asked for less
rent/table for the tournaments. We currently charge $25/table and decided if the tourney loses money
we will discuss taking less per table.
David reported the Thursday game is going well and usually has four tables. David also shared that
Bonnie Newton will be moving in November. The board discussed possibilities for the open time on
Friday. Pete is now the contact on the partnership desk for the Saturday game.
Board responsibilities were discussed. Brad, as treasurer, has been fielding and working on all
maintenance issues and this needs to be handled by another person as his responsibilities are plenty.
David will contact the landlord about the pigeon droppings. It was also decided to pay the cleaning lady
$75/week with no timesheet needed in the future.
Financial report: Our rent was recently increased to $3500 from $3100. The landlord continues to run a
tally of unpaid rent on lease. There may be some donations coming from memorials and wills. Our
annual dividend is $1300 from Gustafson-Byers. The balance from Edward Jones of $4268.87 is
currently in our checking account and will remain there.
Old Business: Directors and Board Insurance was secured by David and is in effect. Discussion followed
about how to increase the numbers of people playing bridge at the center. Possibly expanding to a
social game as one option was discussed and Jay Winter is hoping his bridge classes will bring more
people in also.
David Nelmark adjourned the meeting at 5:42 pm
