President Carolyn Sabroske called the meeting to order. 

Kristin moved to accept new board members:  Norma Comp and Jean Friedrich.  Kate seconded; motion was approved. 

Responsibilities were allocated to board members as follows:

• Regionals – Kristin Welter
• Sectionals – Jean Friedrich and Denise Dornbier
• Education – Bonni Newton
• Unit games – Sally Meixner
• 0-200 activities – Irene Boyd
• Mentoring activities – Tom Olsson

Secretary’s report:  Meeting minutes from prior meeting were approved.

Education report:  Rich Newell’s class for intermediate players is ongoing.  Teachers for beginning bridge classes are needed.  We would like to offer beginner classes in the fall and the spring; materials are available for prospective teachers to use if desired. A $100 donation in memory of Jean Bowers has been received.  The gift was designated to go toward education.

Treasurer’s report:  A YTD Cash Flow for Unit 216 and an income statement for the Corn Belt Tournament were reviewed.

OLD BUSINESS

Corn Belt Results:  The Corn Belt Tournament had a total of 124 tables and made a profit of $375.46.

Annual Meeting and Board Elections:  There were 13 tables.

Mentoring Games:  54 players have signed up to be mentees while only 36 players have signed up to be mentors, so additional mentors are being sought. 

Christmas Party:  The Christmas party will be on Friday, December 6.  Dinner will be at 5:30 with play beginning at 6:15. Players whose last names begin with A-M are asked to bring a dish to share.

NEW BUSINESS

Holiday Sectional:  John Melberg and Linda Johnson are co-chairs for the event which will be held Jan 9-12, 2020.

Attendance Suggestions for Sectional:  The board discussed various ideas regarding how to address declining attendance at Sectionals.  A suggestion box is in the main room of the Bridge Center for players to provide thoughts about how attendance might be increased.
