J. Robert Gregory

Age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at Shipley Manor after a long illness.

Mr. Gregory was born in Decatur, IL. He was a Cum Laude Graduate of the University of Illinois. After earning his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1939, he moved east to join the DuPont Company at the Experimental Station. He married in 1947 and shortly thereafter was transferred to DuPont's facility in Charleston, WV. He returned to Wilmington, DE in 1953, where he settled permanently. He served as Design Project Manager for DuPont until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Gregory volunteered his time to many charities and organizations. Among them were Meals on Wheels, Medical Transport Services, child tutoring programs and political groups. He also served on the Board of Riverside Hospital. His interests included world travel, golf, bridge and opera. He was an American Contract Bridge League Life Master in 1983 and former president of the Delaware State Bridge Association.

His beloved wife of 59 years, Regina Grodzicki Gregory, predeceased him on April 7, 2007. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Susan Glassman and son-in-law, Scott Glassman of Tomball, TX; his sister, Barbara Fetter of Colgate, WI and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday November 10, at 10 am. Interment will be held privately. The family will receive friends and relatives at 9:30 am, at the church.
