Kathy Sulgrove |

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a longtime star of the Cleveland and national bridge community, Kathy Sulgrove. Kathy had just returned from a vacation in Ecuador when she died following a tragic fall down a staircase at her home. She was just 70 years old.
Kathy and her husband Don formed one of Cleveland's strongest partnerships for many years. They were a fixture in our Unit's face-to-face tournaments as well as nationally.
Kathy won our Unit's Larry Rock Race an amazing 19 times since it was established in 1995. Kathy had 13,928 masterpoints which ranks fourth in our Unit and eighth in District 5
Playing with Larry Rock, Kathy won the National Mixed Pairs in 1984.
With her husband Don, partners Neil Waletzky and Stan Dub, the team placed second in the 2003 Flight A - Grand National Teams.
The next year Kathy won her first Women's Knockout event. Her team went on to win the next three women's team events as well, to make it four consecutive wins in women's national team events! Her team represented the US in the 2005 Venice Cup in Portugal.
Kathy was a Grand Life Master and was ranked #207 in the world bridge federation's women's rankings (per Google).
Kathy will be deeply missed.
