TWYFORD BRIDGE CLUB CHAIRMEN'S REPORT
2024-2025
We played Face-to Face
bridge only for the whole of this financial Bridge year.
We would like to thank all
the committee, directors and dealers for their hard work in keeping things
going, particularly John E for dealing with the bank and chasing payments and
John and Jen for help with set up and scoring. Set up is still a problem we
need all directors to know how to set up Bridgemate
movements accurately and to score. We are now able to use the RCHC Wi-Fi, so
scores can be uploaded to the website before we leave the club.
Our thanks to the Dealers
John, Allan and Robert. The dealing machine problems seem to have been
resolved, and it is working well. The repair costs were one of the main
expenses this year.
We now have only 65 listed
members down from 70 last year. Face to Face play has survived but average
table numbers are again down to 8.7 this year (9 last year). The Rent of £120
per evening means that we need table money to be raised to break even and keep
some reserves for possible new equipment needs.
The Thames Suite has been
mostly warm enough this year. The main problem is the setting up of the tables
which are not often in the right places. However other venues have similar
costs and there are often difficulties with storage and parking.
The Host system is working
well. Many thanks to Mali for organising
this system, which enables more people to play when regular partners are
unavailable.
Thank you, David for
keeping us supplied with refreshments.
Our thanks to Mark for
organising a very successful Christmas Party this year.
Hopefully we can do
something similar again next Christmas. The Pairs Trophy Plate is now engraved
up to date. Our thanks to Sue for finding someone who could do this for us.
Finally, we want to thank
you all for playing at the Twyford Bridge Club and for contributing to a very
pleasant and friendly atmosphere in which to play bridge.
