In memoriam - Ted Cornelius

We are very sad to announce the death of Ted Cornelius, on 11th April.  A great supporter of the club he has won virtually every trophy in the cupboard - many of them several times!  He was playing with the club every week up until just one month ago.  His bridge game was very important to him and he rarely missed a chance to play. A valued club member, he will be sorely missed.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The competition runs for periods of 3 months and only on Tuesdays, and not Thursdays, and is therefore only open to those members who play online.

The normal online Pairs event will be run on BBO on Tuesday, as usual.  However, in addition to the normal results (which will be the ones uploaded to the club website and the EBU website) a separate handicap result will be calculated and the results, after the handicap has been applied, will be uploaded to this page.

The rules for this are as follows:-

  • played over 12/13 weeks each quarter, depending on the dates
  • best 8 scores (points) to count only, so potentially 4 or 5 scores can be discarded
  • a minimum of 8 games for each pair to qualify
  • handicap applied to the combined NGS rating for both players as of the first event during the quarter
  • points scored basically reverse the position - so if there are 24 pairs the winners will get 24 points, second place 23 etc etc

The results will be published (in addition to the normal results each week) along with the running league table and positions.

The top pair will receive the Tudor Plate for the next quarter.

Good luck everyone.
