I said to my partner "I always add a 4 points to my hand when you are declarer".  They replied "oh, thank you.  I always subtract 2 when you defend and add 3 when you are dummy!"

Dave Watson Handicapped Simple Systems 2026 Competition

On Monday 11th May Tudor will play the Dave Watson Handicapped Simple Systems event, in our usual venue, for the honour of winning the Dave Watson Cup. 

'Simple Systems' means across the field we play the same system. 12-14 balanced to open 1 NT, 20-22 to open 2 NT.  Stayman and red suit transfers over 1 NT and 2 NT opening bids.  Weak 2s in ♠, ♥  and ♦ .  2♣  is the strongest opening bid and, of course straight Blackwood.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Pat for their excellent win with 147 points in the latest Tudor Handicap Pairs League. Congratulations also to Margaret and Doug in 2nd place with 136 points, Gilly and Barry in 3rd with 132 points also Karen P and Lesley D 4th with 128 points.  Well done all.
