General Instructions

1. Instructions:

  • Players must be seated 10 mins before the start of the game. 
  • Camera & microphone must be turned on & remain on throughout the tournament. 

2. Line up procedure:

  • Captains will submit their line up to Jack Rhind (rhind.jack@gmail.com).

3. Time Delay & Hesitation:

  • Penalties for late arrival and slow play are as described in Appendix 3 of the GCoC
  • Please note that directors can produce a board report, which includes the time for each bid or play by any player. 

4. Electronic Devices:

  • Except for computers, laptops or tablets in use for play, mobile phones and electronic devices capable of communication may not be in use by players.
  • Violations will be subject to a penalty once a warning has been delivered.

5. General Rules during play:

  • Players must only communicate in English. 
  • Tournament Director (TD) adjudications will only be in English.
  • Players should avoid any discussion or arguments with the opponents or partner and incase of a dispute the players only recourse is to the TD. 
  • Players can have opponents convention cards & supplementary sheets
  • Players are forbidden from consulting their own convention card between the commencement of the auction period and the end of play.

6. Calling TD: 

  • Mechanical problems will be dealt with automatically. However, it is necessary to call the TD when:
    • the platform has not dealt with a mechanical issue satisfactorily;
    • a player is unresponsive, or the play becomes ‘stuck’ in some other way;
    • there is conflicting information about the meaning of a call or play, e.g. when an alert/explanation is different from the system card or does not reflect the partnership understanding;
    • there appears to be use of unauthorized information;
    • there is a dispute over a claim/concession;
    • there is a request for an undo;
    • there is any bad behaviour.

7. Alerts:

  • Players are responsible for alerting and explaining to their screen mates any call they make that is alertable (self‐alerting).
  • For self-alerts, this will be written explanation and it will be shown to your opponent not your partner.
  • Self-Alerts:- Please click the alert button, write the explanation & select your bid.

 

8. Undos:

  • A player wishing to substitute a call under Law 25A1 shall call the TD who will rule on whether to allow the substitution.
  • A change of call or play based on misinformation (Law 47E2) may be allowed by the TD. Otherwise a change of call or play is not allowed.
