Tring & Berkhamsted Improvers Bridge Club (TABIC) operates at Tring Bowls Club (TBBC) on Monday & Friday mornings - and now online each Wednesday evening on the RealBridge platform.
TABIC was originally formed from a group that attended the “Bridge for All” beginner’s lessons in 2016 when many of the players wanted to continue playing Bridge together and there were no local clubs which could accommodate 20+ inexperienced players. Derek, the original teacher and his playing partner Pete, therefore started the improver group.
Over the months others that had attended lessons with other teachers joined the group and in 2017 a second group of Derek’s beginner’s lessons graduates joined as well. Since then, the Club has gradually expanded. Members can play any of the sessions, however, please note the Friday group are more experienced. New TABIC members will be encouraged to join the Monday group initially.
Each Bridge session starts with a short discussion, quiz or explanation about an aspect of Bridge bidding or play, followed by a duplicate competition.
The sessions are relaxed and friendly, Derek and Pete want everyone to enjoy their Bridge and not be intimidated by the competition. Members are free to seek guidance and, on a Monday, ask for help with assisted play. Partners are not necessary as a host system exists.
These sessions are not for complete beginners, they are targeted at improving players with limited experience.
There is ample parking with good access at Tring Bowls Club; the venue can accommodate 14 tables.
Play starts at 9:20am, ending around 12:15 on both Monday and Friday mornings. Please arrive and be seated by 9:15 latest as the event will commence at 9:20 promptly.
Refreshments are provided on a "help yourself" basis from the kitchen to enhance the morning's experience.
TABIC is not affiliated to the EBU.
