We are delighted to announce that we will reopen the club on Monday 26th July, with free celebratory drinks served from 6.30pm and bridge commencing at 7pm. We're looking forward to seeing as many people as possible on the night and we also extend a warm welcome to members of neighbouring clubs in Newton Abbot and Teignmouth who may wish to come along. We'll run a host system so you're guaranteed a partner to play with. Parking is available along Tor Hill Road from 6pm.
Other news: we'll be looking to get a new afternoon session up and running from August, and will be consulting members to find out which days and times suit best - watch this space for details! We don't intend to run any online bridge sessions as these are already expertly provided by our friends in Newton Abbot and Exeter bridge clubs, and are already utilised by some of our members.
We are also set to launch a series of beginner lessons for the public, and hopefully some improver lessons for our existing members and those of neighbouring clubs, subject to demand. The lessons will be run by Devon county player Alex Maddocks. We'll announce details in due course on this website, but in the meantime if you think improver lessons might be for you please contact any member of the committee to register your interest.
Finally some sad news: our Chairman Peter Bowles has had to step down due to ill health. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for his excellent service and stewardship of the club over recent years, and we also register our thanks to Hymie Smith who has stood down from the committee. We're pleased to announce the appointment of two new officers to the Committee: Alex Maddocks has taken up the Chair and Di Oliver is the Secretary (both to be approved at the the next AGM), whilst Geoff Clements provides continuity as Treasurer along with remaining committee members Tony Allsworth, Chris Ley and Alan Nicholl. Please do approach any committee member with your thoughts and suggestions on how we can improve our club now that lockdown is over.
Also, a special thank you to Carol Roylance for her time on the committee, during which she ran the monthly raffle and kept the club supplied with coffee/tea and biscuits.
