Welcome to Thakeham Bridge Club

This popular bridge club was founded in 1980 by four friends who played bridge socially and then decided to form a formal club. The club now has a membership of over one hundred†enthusiastic†players who enjoy the challenge and reward of the game. Our dealing machine is now fully operational and provides interesting card distributions and hand records that accompany web-posted results.

We meet on: (i) Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm, usually for teams (so it would be very helpful if you could let Harold know in advance†whenever you intend playing)†and (ii) Friday afternoons at 1:20pm for duplicate pairs. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before play commences. Visitors are most welcome but no standby partners are provided. However, should you need a partner please contact Harold Linfield on (01798) 812276.

2024 Annual General Meeting: The Thakeham Bridge Club AGM will be held Friday 8th March 2024 at 11:30am in the Thakeham Village Hall. Immediately following the AGM, there will be the annual luncheon. Tickets for the lunch are £10 per member and £15 for non-members. These tickets are now on sale and are available from our treasurer, Graham Ball (or alternatively from any committee member in Graham's absence). The club's normal Friday afternoon bridge session (open to all) will commence after the lunch at around 1:15 - 1:30pm.

Please try to arrive 10 - 15 minutes before play is scheduled to start in order to help our directors and scorers.

If delayed by traffic please ring the Club's Mobile No:  07391 873508  or a member.

Our Members

2024 Membership: The new year has started and it is now time for you to renew your membership of the club. Annual membership is £10 and became due on 1st January 2024. Please submit membership renewals ASAP to our treasurer, Graham Ball.

We always welcome new members. For more information please contact a member of the committee via Harold Linfield.

The Spring Teams competition will be held Friday 26th April. This event is open to†Thakeham Bridge Club members only. Looking further ahead, the Children in Need SIM pairs has been scheduled for 8th November 2024.

The National Interclub Knockout Competition (NICKO): The Nicko is open to all clubs. Thakham BC entered a team of 6 (Harold and Cecily Linfield, Jeremy Harris, Ron James and David and Andrea Galpin) with 4 players playing in each match.† To date Cecily, Jeremy and David and Andrea have played. Round 1 was played in December as an away match against a team from Tunbridge Wells BC.† The match proved testing against a Kent County Team including the current Kent County Pairs Champions. Round 3 is to be played as a home match during March 2024 against Young Chelsea BC which is likely to prove a challenging experience.
