It's been a week of sad news for the Club.

       We've been informed of the passing of: Diana Panniers,  Peter Lane and Tony Morris,  We remember them with great affection and all will be missed here at the Club.

Diana Panniers  Diana, who passed away on 5th May, had been a member of the Club since 1974. A formidable player who represented the Club in many competitions, the Lady Milne and many other events, winning the Welsh Cup amongst other notable achievements. She was also a great servant of this club, serving as Club Secretary from 1980 until 2014 when she became Chair of the Club through to 2017. Her contribution to the Club was honoured by her being elected as the Club's Life President in 2019. She was also active in Welsh Bridge affairs outside the Club, taking up the Treasurers role in the West Wales Bridge Association in 1990 through to 1998 and then chairing the Association from 1997 to 1999. Her work for Welsh Bridge was recognised in her been elected President of the Welsh Bridge Union 1999/2000.

Peter Lane  Peter, who passed away on 9th May, has been a stalwart member of the Club since joining in 1988. He was a committee member, managing our website and our IT. Always a strong Bridge player, he together with his wife Margaret and with Val and Steve Kenewell, made a formidable team competing in many WBU and EBU Congresses and competitions over many years. His many partners in sessions here at the Club will recall the quality of his play His reduced mobility over the last few years after a fall did not reduce his commitment to the work of the Club nor his playing face to face or online in our Monday evening RealBridge sessions. 

Our thoughts and support go out to Margaret at this time.

Tony Morris  Tony who passed away recently was, with his wife Jan, a regular and popular pair in our Tuesday morning sessions these past several years. Our thoughts go out to Jan and family at this sad time.

                                                       Diana's funeral will be held on Thursday 28th May at 2:30pm at Morriston Crematorium.

Swansea Bridge Club

 Annual Subscriptions of £45 are due in April for the year April’26 to March’27

All of our members are affiliated to the Welsh Bridge Union.

Membership at £20 a year is available to players already affiliated to the WBU,

either directly, or through another affiliated club or organisation. 

For anyone joining in the Autumn, September to December, Subs are charged at £22,.

We don’t charge a subscription for anyone joining in the Spring, January to March.

Our table charges are £3 a session for members, £4 for guests.

Our RealBridge charges for Monday Evenings are £2.50 for members, £3 for guests.

Bridge courses for beginners, improvers, intermediate players at no extra cost.

Sessions are run on Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings and Monday afternoons.

Monday Afternoon 1:30 pm, finishes promptly at 4:00 pm. 

This is a really friendly, informal, ‘no fear’ session for those relatively new to the game and is run by Phil Skinner.

Everyone is able to play a relaxed , enjoyable game openly discussing all hands at the table.

There will usually be a few more experienced players in attendance who will help and answer questions.

If there are any unanswered questions then I’m sure that Phil will ‘know a man/woman who can help.

To make sure that everyone who attends has a partner please book your place each week.

Please say also whether you have a partner or wish to be paired up with another player.

Each week Phil will then send you an email asking if you wish to take part that week.

This is a straightforward session of Club Bridge of approximately 16 hands

All are welcome.

Please arrive by 9.50a.m.

There will ALWAYS be a HOST AVAILABLE so just feel free to turn up with or without a partner.

Thursday evening 7:00 pm

Come along on your own if you like as a host is available for this session .

Friday morning  'Teams Competition'  10:00am

Next session June

All are welcome beginners through to experts .

You can enter as a team of four, a pair, or as an individual. 

If you don’t enter as a complete team the organiser will allocate you to a team a few days before the competition.

To start playing please, where at all possible, pay via Bank Transfer to the following account. ( Sort Code 090721,  Santander Account ‘Swansea Bridge Club’ number 71632281). If you are unable to do this, you may leave a cheque  for £30 made out to Swansea Bridge Club with Annette or otherwise send your cheque to Ted Hylton at 24 Montpelier Terrace, Swansea SA1 6JW.
