| TABLET ETIQUETTE |
EBU Points of Etiquette for Clubs with Electronic Scoring Terminals
Know your membership number to input at the beginning of the session.
North is responsible for entering the scores but he/she may delegate this to South.
East is responsible for verifying the entry but he/she may delegate this to West.
If there is a mistake, North should undo the score and re-enter it correctly, and this should then be verified by East.
If an incorrect result has been erroneously verified and cannot be corrected, the scorer (or director) should be called.
The other players may request to see the overall percentage and other scores. Best practice is for East (or West) to hold the terminal in a fashion such that all the other players at the table can see these.
If you are not sure about something, please ask the Scorer or Director.

|
STOP CARD
This must be used whenever a bid is made which bypasses a level of bidding. The stop card should be held making sure all at the table has seen it. The next bidder should NOT bid until the Stop card is put away.
|
ALERT
You should use the alert card if your partner bids any artificial bid. You do not alert or announce your own bid.
Examples of bids that should be alerted
2C showing a strong hand
1C should be alerted if playing a strong 1C system
2D should be alerted if playing Multi or Benji Acol
2C should be alerted if playing Benji Acol
When the Alert card is played no explanation should be given until asked for by the opposition. If you are asked for the meaning of partner’s call and you are not sure, you must not say how you intend to interpret it.
Bids after 3NT are not alertable except in very particular cases.
|
ASKING QUESTIONS
Do NOT ask the meaning of a bid just because it has been alerted and it is your turn to bid unless you are considering bidding. Wait until the end of the auction.
NOTE: Please be tolerant if opponents alert when they should announce or announce when they shouldn’t.
