We are a friendly Bridge Club who meet at St. Fagans Village Hall twice a week, on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings, to play duplicate bridge for about 2 and a half hours each session.
For those who want to play a bit slower and talk about the hands, we run a Leisurely Play Session on a Thursday afternoon with time for discussion, analysis and help.
ALL FACE TO FACE MEETINGS OF ST FAGANS BRIGE CLUB ARE NOW SUSPENDED FOR THE DURATION OF THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC
Since there is no sign of us being able to play face to face, I suggest for those who haven’t already done so, you look at the online sites for playing Bridge. The two most popular sites are BridgeBase Online (BBO) and Stepbridge -
We have now launched the St. Fagans Online club on StepBridge, playing every Wednesday at 7.00 pm. StepBridge is a long established Dutch system that has now created a UK presence. It is being promoted in the UK by the Welsh Bridge Union (WBU) and is a better system than BBO for club play and Teams. At the moment everything is free on it. The WBU also run 4 competitions a week on it and you don’t need to be a member of the WBU to play. For more information and help in getting started contact either Alan Paice or Jane Winstanley.
BBO is a well-established American online system and free for playing with friends. There are also numerous competitions, most of which you have to pay to enter. The English Bridge Union (EBU) hosts some of these and I suggest those are the ones to play in since they will mostly be playing ACOL as we do in club. BBO is best for ad-hoc games between four of you. We (SFBC) currently have about 20 of our members regularly playing on the BBO site. For more information and help in getting started contact either Alan Paice or Jane Winstanley.
