2026 Granite City Tournament

Sometimes, the finesses work and every debatable decision you make turns out to be the right one. When it does, you might end up with really good game! And some times, you do even better than that! Phil Schloss and Marlene Devoe played brilliantly to a 75% game at the 6-table 299er game on Monday night  (Phil tells me that not every decision was the right one, but they certainly made a lot more right ones than wrong ones!). When you see them, congratulate them, and watch out for them at the tournament this weekend!

On Wednesday, we had a special game and the surprise (to John) dedication of the John Koch Library. John has donated hundreds of bridge books to the library - and more to come.  John has contributed greatly to the education of the club, by writing books, giving lessons and now donating hundreds of books including a number he has written. Zach Wefel has been appointed as the librarian and in addition to books that can be signed out, he intends to include bidding boxes and boards so people can organize home bridge parties if they wish (Some people just can't get enough bridge). At this time, John will not be donating his collection of every Sports Illustrated ever printed. 

Our good friend and long time bridgeplayer, Dennis (Duffy) Dufner, has  been making the trek up to St Cloud once a month to play bridge with us.  Now he has been spotted playing in Rochester.That guy get around!
