| HANDICAP PAIRS COMPETITION SUNDAY 11th OCTOBER |
|
The Open Handicap Pairs Competition will take place on Sunday 11th October from 1.45pm for 2.00pm prompt start. Expected finish by 6pm.
This glorious trophy is up for grabs by the winners of the Handicap Ranking for play on this day. The idea is that everyone has a chance, as the less experienced players with a higher positive handicap are just a likely to win as the more experienced players who may even have a negative handicap
There will also be a prize for the pair winning the scratch ranking.
All are welcome this is an open competition so members and visitors alike can take part.. Cost will be £5 per person, and hot drinks will be provided. There will be a break at Tea Time, but please bring your own snacks if you need to top up your energy levels at this point.
Like all Stansfield Bridge Sessions , the competition may be serious, but we will have great fun . Sign up is essential if you wish to take part. Click HERE
Sign up must be with a partner, but partners can be requested on the Calendar as usual.

| MEMBERS' SUMMER PARTY THIURSDAY 9th JULY |
|
ANOTHER glorious evening for the Stansfield summer party ! With over 60 people attending we were treated to the most delicious supper outside in the beautiful Suffolk Countryside It really is a huge team effort, to deliver such a perfect event . Special thanks to Gerry who cooked the Best Beef Ever, Elizabeth who prepared the wonderful salmon and Christine who made the amazing vegetable tart, and of course all the members who brought salads and delicious deserts which made the whole thing sing, and thanks to Paddy for running the bar, I have forgotten how many bottles of wine were consumed but it was a lot. We were very ably supported by Leigha and Sophie who did all the washing up, and clearing up in the kitchen.
On to the Bridge and a great if slightly roasting club night followed with Nigel and Paul victorious overall- see results panel opposite. Massive thanks to Jackie and Phil for directing and Pete for scoring the complex movement which somehow went off faultlessly in spite of the wine.
Finally but most importantly we were utterly delighted, and very thankful to welcome back Pauline who returned after her serious illness, and without whom the whole thing would not have happened. Somehow she directed operations from her home whilst recovering from her treatment, and we were very glad indeed that she was able to come and enjoy the evening with us. THANK YOU Pauline.
Thanks to all the members who helped set up or clear up and supported the event reinforcing the long held opinion that this really is the best bridge club in Suffolk if not the world, although we are told by Richard that some have an even better view.

| NIBBLES! |
As I am sure you are aware one of our unique features at this very friendly club is our delightful social break in Bridge on a Thursday Evening, when we can enjoy a glass of wine or beer, and a delicious selection of nibbles produced by our members. We have a nibbles rota on which people can sign up , this is physically kept in the village hall and is available for sign up every club session. We have decided to add this information to the calendar in the website, so if you aren't sure when you have promised to do the nibbles you can check on there.! Of course if people change their dates or swap with others it will be incorrect, so please bear that in mind , you can always drop Wendie an e mail if that happens - e mail address in the committee list.. By the way the cost of doing the nibbles is now reimbursed at a flat rate of £30, to reflect the ever increasing cost of food. If you havent done them for a while do have a look at the list next time you are at the club, there are always gaps to be filled.
