The first Teams Match against Clare Bridge Club since the pandemic was held on 27th March , two teams of 4 from each club competed.

We are delighted to say Stansfield won by 68 IMPs, all down to team Pauline, Jo, Keith & Joan who ended the evening with +85 IMPs.  Team Jackie, Susan, Marcus & Chris ended up with – 17 IMPs.

Thanks to Jackie who directed the event , she commented "It was a fun evening in a very relaxed atmosphere and having not directed at a team’s event since before the pandemic I was very pleased it all went smoothly……. Phew!!"

Hopefully this is the first of many re-matches with our friends at Clare. Thank you to all who took part.

THURSDAY 13½ TABLES

Owing to technical difficulties computer scoring was not possible last evening . However thanks to Paddy who must have stayed up half the night he has manually input the scores and so what you see above are the results of last nights play. The ranking has been a bit of a moveable feast with various adjustments being made to the score-line, our very own version of VAR - Congratulations to Nancy and Dave for winning the main ranking and Chris and Gerry for coming second and winning the handicap, Sue and Tessa were third. Well done all and lets hope for smoothly running evening next Thurrsday!

Thanks all for completing your scorecards and being patient with the delay to the start of play, .but most of all THANKS TO PADDY for his dedication in reading some very dodgy handwriting and getting these results up what a star!

MARY EVANS 1955-2024
MARY EVANS 1955-2024

A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at St Edmundsbury cathedral on Monday 8 April at 11am, followed by refreshments in the cathedral (not in The Athenaeum as previously stated).

All members are welcome as are bridge players from further afield who knew Mary.

Meanwhile, Ruth Gillan, one of Mary's oldest friends, is walking 10,000 steps a day throughout March as part of the annual Cancer Research challenge.

"I recently lost a glorious friend to this pernicious illness so I'm more than happy to do anything I can to help stomp it out. Marching for Mary I'm calling it," Ruth said (pictured with Mary below)

Anyone wishing to donate can do so via Ruth's giving page. Just click on MARCHING FOR MARY
