The New Season for St Andrews Bridge Club will start on Tuesday 2nd September 2025. We will meet each Tuesday in the New Golf Club, 3-5 Gibson Place, St. Andrews. Registration is from 6:20pm for a 6:45pm start.

Annandale Invitational Teams

Each year Annandale Bridge Club in Newport-on-Tay invite teams from St Andrews and Arbroath Bridge clubs to an Invitational Teams Event. This year, on Thursday 26 May 2023, 9 teams including 3 from St Andrews were treated to a very friendly welcome, some challenging hands and an amazing spread of food during the tea break.

Congratulations to the St Andrews team of Jack ShearerMarc ShearerPeter Thommeny and Michèle Grainger who were runaway winners and well done to the other two St Andrews teams who finished 4th and 8th.

SBU National Ranked Individual Tournaments

Huge congratulations to Howard Greenwell who won the SBU National Ranked Individual Farquharson Trophy for Regional Masters on Saturday 29th April. This is a fantastic achievement!

Also many congratulations to Jack Shearer who was runner-up in the SBU National Ranked Individual Shenkin Trophy for Masters to 5-Star Senior Masters. A great achievement especially since Jack started learning to play bridge less than 2 years ago!

Annual Prize-Giving and Dinner 2022-23

On Tuesday 25th April 2023 we held our annual prize-giving followed by a dinner and party bridge.

The event was well attended and started with the award of trophies and prizes for the years competitions - our first such event in 4 years!
This was followed by an excellent dinner and then Bridge Bingo which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Congratulations to St Andrews members Michèle Grainger and Marc Shearer who won the SBU Saturday Swiss event on the 22nd April 2023

Recent Success for St Andrews Bridge Club Members

Club Members playing in the Scottish Online League were winners in 3 of the 6 Divisions of the League

Team Patrick with members Cathy Ferguson and Bob McKinnon won Division 3 and have been promoted to Division 2

Team Coles with member Sylvia Peterson won Division 4 and have been promoted to Division 3

Team Shearer (on their first venture into the League) with members Michèle Grainger, Peter Thommeny, George Watson, Marc Shearer, Jack Shearer and former member Donald MacKillop won Division 5 and have been promoted to Division 4

Recent Success for St Andrews Bridge Club Members

Congratulations to St Andrews members Michèle Grainger and Peter Thommeny who won the Central District Pairs Semi-Finals on Sunday 19th March 2023 at Dundee Bridge Club!

St Andrews Pairs achieved a clean sweep of the top 3 positions with Cathy Ferguson and Bob McKinnon runners-up and Catherine Grainger and Jack Shearer finishing third.

Other members Sylvia PetersonHoward Greenwell and Sheila Blair also qualified for the final on Sunday 23rd April. The detailed results are available here.

Russell French - District Invitational Teams

Well done to the St Andrews team of Michèle Grainger, Peter Thommeny, Jack Shearer and Marc Shearer who came second in the Russell French Teams on Sunday 15th January, 2023.

The Russell French is a district invitational event with teams invited from most of the clubs in the Central District of the SBU

Congratulations (yet again) to St Andrews members Bob McKinnon and Cathy Ferguson whose team won the Teams Event in the recent New Melville Christmas Congress on the 29th December, 2022.

Langlands Teams Event 2022

Congratulations to the team of Howard Greenwell, Sheila Blair, Brian Allan and Les Meade for winning the Langlands Teams event on Tuesday 13th December

They squeezed past the team of Bob McKinnon, Cathy Fergus, Joe Peterson and Andy Collins who came a close second. The Langlands Teams is contested by scratch teams drawn on the evening of the event.

Aviemore Congress Winners

Huge congratulations to St Andrews members Bob McKinnon and Cathy Ferguson whose team won the Teams Event in the Highland District Congress at Aviemore on Sunday 6th November

The Aviemore Congress is one of the highlights of the Scottish Bridge Year and it is great to see St Andrews members taking away the trophy! Cathy and Bob were joined by another local pair - Bob Hunter and Ron Moodie from Leven Bridge Club - in the winning team. The detailed results are available here.​​​

And well done to all the other St Andrews members taking part in the event - especially Liz Hill and Howard Greenwell who won one of the consolation pairs events.

Edwin Berry Bowl - Swiss Teams

Congratulations to St Andrews members Cathy Ferguson and Bob McKinnon whose team came second in the Edwin Berry Bowl Swiss Teams event on Sunday 25th September

The Edwin Berry Bowl is a National Scottish Swiss Teams event which attracted a very strong field this year. Cathy and Bob's team only missed out on first place by the narrowest of margins (1VP). The detailed results are available here.​​​

Clarendon Trophy

Congratulations to the St Andrews team of Michèle Grainger, Peter Thommeny, Marc Shearer & Jack Shearer who came second in the Clarendon Trophy on Sunday in Dundee Bridge Club

The Clarendon Trophy is an invitational teams of four tournament held at the start of each new season. This year it was won by the team of Joan Forsyth, Beryl Campbell, Brian Short & Alan Goodman ahead of a strong field from across Scotland and it provided a very interesting and enjoyable afternoon of Bridge.
