It is a great congress and attracts a lot of the best players. However space is limited and it sells out very quickly!

Congratulations to St Andrews player Bob McKinnon who won the Main Congress Pairs and Cathy Ferguson who came 7th. Cathy and Bob also won the Pre-Congress Mixed Teams and finished 3rd in the Main Congress Teams. Not a bad weekend! Full results are available here

Easter Pairs 2024

As well as being an ordinary club night, Tuesday 19th March was our heat of the Easter Pairs

In this event the hands we played are the same as other clubs in Scotland and all the results are combined. Well done to Lifang Lamb & Bill Hamilton for finishing 12th nationally out of 160 pairs and to Catherine Grainger & Jack Shearer for finishing 20th

A commentary on the hands played is available here. The combined results for the evening are available here. You can see how our St Andrews pairs performed nationally here. Click the NS column heading to see the EW pairs.

Oban Congress 2024

The Oban Congress takes place in early March each year. This year 5 St Andrews members took part in a field of 44 pairs / 22 teams - Sheila Blair (playing with Kirsty Hassall), Michčle Grainger, Catherine Grainger, Marc Shearer & Jack Shearer.

All 3 pairs made it through to the main Pairs final with Michčle & Marc finishing 3rd, Catherine & Jack finishing 6th and Sheila finishing 10th.

Michčle, Catherine, Marc & Jack finished 7th in the teams final with Sheila 6th in the consolation final.

SBU Peebles Congress 2024

The SBU Congress took place in Peebles Hydro on the 6th-8th March. This is the main SBU Congress of the year and 60 pairs and 31 teams were taking part. The congress was hugely enjoyable if a trifle tiring! Of particular note was the Speedball Pairs late on Saturday night. This was a normal duplicate played at 3 minutes per board. Lots of hectic fun!

Four St Andrews pairs were competing - Marion Cadogan & Sheila Blair, Fiona Lewis & Bill Hamilton, Michčle Grainger & Peter Thommeny and Marc & Jack Shearer. Michčle & Peter came 15th in the Pairs Qualifying, narrowly missing out on the Main Final. They were joined in the Subsidiary Final by Marc & Jack who finished joint runners-up.
