Some changes in the EBU announcing/alerting September 2022. David drew up a summary of the 2022 changes for directors.
Some events at the showground make it difficult to park just outside the club. By clicking here you will see the scheduled list of events. If you would have a problem walking, say 300 yards, beware of the popular dog shows (usually not a problem after 5 p.m.) and events that indicate "entire showground" when it might be wise to organise a chauffeur to drop you at the bridge club door! Allowing a little extra time to reach the club when an event is on will not go amiss. A very few events mean that bridge actually has to be cancelled, eg the County Show, there should be a clear notice on the home page when that happens.

If you know of any member of the club who is unwell please let either Pat Martin or a member of the committee know so that appropriate wishes can be sent on behalf of all members. The quickest response will be to tell either Pat Martin or any member of the committee at the bridge session then a card can be signed & posted immediately. Alternatively, you can email the secretary.
Please tell the webmaster what you like and, more importantly, what you do not like about the website. After questionnaire at AGM and continued on Friday 12th May 2023 attempt made to de-clutter the home page! Is that an improvement? Click here to "have your say". Thank you

If you would like to give Bridge Club Live a try click here for the basic instructions, around 35 SBC members are active on BCL. A Stafford BCL virtual SBC club runs on Thursday evenings and a friendly BCL club runs on Tuesday mornings. The SSCBA set up a County wide Bridge Base Online virtual club that meets on Wednesday evenings, see here for advice on how to get started with BBO. A new third option is RealBridge where Newcastle Under Lyme, EBU and Midlands regional events take place. Please don't see these as either/or options but rather as different ways of enjoying online bridge which add variety to your game.

A memorable weekend was spent at the Crabwall Manor Hotel near Chester from 12th to 15th April 2019 with a group of 35. Of the 35 twenty seven were addicts to the game and one reluctant recruit was pressed on the Sunday night to complete the 7 teams! The hotel was very old in parts (11th century) with extensions added over the years making for an interesting sequence of room numbers, find your room was a fun diversion for some on arrival! David organised 3 sessions of bridge on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings acting as a non-playing director on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
