Dear Bridge Club member,
I am writing this letter to let you know how your Committee is preparing for the easing of Covid restrictions, including plans for reopening our Club premises for duplicate sessions, and to give you a specific invitation.
We have taken the necessary actions to enable Club sessions to be carried out with a high level of anti-covid protective measures. These include plastic screens and table covers for all tables, a heavy-duty hand sanitiser, and an inflow and outflow air quality installation.
We have also taken the opportunity during lockdown to fully refurbish the kitchen. The major work has already been completed. A new flooring will be laid on August 10th, after which there will just be the walls to repaint at some future time.
Regarding the reopening of the Club premises, we are entering into a period of transition, both in terms of the onus being on individual responsibility within the ongoing pandemic, and also in terms of rebuilding the Club’s programme of face-to-face sessions.
As a preliminary initiative, we invite all members who wish to do so to come to an informal duplicate session and discussion at the Club on Monday 2nd August at 2 pm. If you intend to accept this invitation, kindly RSVP to the Club Secretary beforehand.
This session will be run with window ventilation, use of hand sanitiser and clear plastic screens on the tables, but face masks will be optional. The kitchen will not be available; any refreshments and cups etc needed must be brought by individuals and removed afterwards. This level of anti-covid protection is not intended to be a template for all future sessions at the Club. A stricter template is in fact being planned for some Club sessions to suit the known concerns of several members.
Committee members will meet the following day, Tuesday 3rd August, to determine the details of our plans and protocols for re-opening the Club premises for regular duplicate sessions, together with what online activity we will continue to sustain. These details will be circulated to Club members as soon as possible. In advance of this meeting, the Committee would be glad to receive any comments or feedback from members.
With all good wishes for your wellbeing and safe return to playing bridge at our Club premises,
Michael Metcalf Chair,
Stafford Bridge Club
