| Derek Skinner |
Members will be very sad to hear that Derek Skinner has passed away. Derek was a very regular and well respected player at the club over many years until he moved away from the area in 2020 to be nearer his family in Cheshire. Derek was a regular player in the club Shelley teams competition where he played with his regular partner, John Eaves.
John writes - "I started playing bridge with Derek in the early 1960's. From memory I joined bridge lessons provided by Basil Cooke and teamed up with Derek. We played together at a number of venues, including the then M E B club in Brunswick Terrace in Stafford. This was a location we particularly enjoyed because they had a snooker table and we both enjoyed a game. He was a joy to play both snooker and bridge with and later he and Rita became very good friends with my wife and myself. We continued to keep in touch on a regular basis with each other and met on occasions for lunch. He will be sadly missed by both of us". .
Derek's funeral will be at 2 pm on Monday March 30th at Birches Crematorium and Remembrance Park, Birches Lane, Northwich. CW9 7SU

| 2025/26 Shelley Handicapped Teams Final Round - Thursday 19th March |
 |

The 6th and Final round of the 2025/26 Shelley was played on Thursday 19th March. Again Anne Seymour's team in first place by quite some way of Dave's team and Janet's, Anne's team presented with the trophy on the night as clear overall winners for the season. Anne, Dave and Janet's teams the only teams to end up with a positive score in the unhandicapped results for March 19th that can be seen here.
Some subs, Gordon and Bill, were available to take part for the first time this season, they had a very warm welcome. Other players were all regular team members or subs who have taken part in previous rounds.
Many, many thanks to David for directing, David got a hand too while waiting for a late arrival. Scoring system gave David a bit of a headache this time and there may yet be some minor adjustments that will not affect the winning team but maybe overall scores may be an imp or two out! See here for handicapped results
