BP Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions relate to Spondon Blue Point Events, and are agreed to upon entry to, or playing in any part of, an event.

The Organizer reserves the right to change the published format if conditions dictate the need so to do.

Once payment is received there is no entitlement to any refund, but the Organizer may choose to make a full or partial refund in any specific case.

The Regulating Authority for these events under the 2017 Laws of Bridge is the English Bridge Union in its role as NBO (National Bridge Organisation) as defined in those Laws.

Events may be run directly by any participating Tournament Organizer. An event run on behalf of a named bridge club is being run by Andrew Billson in the role of delegated Tournament Organiser

The Organizer for a specific event will have appointed a Tournament Director for the event. who will give rulings and arrange any required appeals.

All competitions are open but restricted to members of the EBU or other NBO. Players may only play systems permitted in the latest EBU documentation. Unless a specific restriction has been published, players are permitted conventions up to and including Level 4. All partnerships are advised to have duplicated convention cards.

For each match the period for a board result to be corrected, appeals to be lodged and rulings to be requested based on new information expires 5 minutes after the last table finishes play.

Results will be available at the end of this period. The results will be posted on the notice board or otherwise displayed in the main playing room.

Where necessary a tie will be split according to the instructions in the latest EBU White Book; the primary method is the result in the round(s) played between those tied.

Victory Point scales, where appropriate, will be those recommended in the latest EBU White Book for the length of match.

If a judgement ruling is required the Tournament Director may call upon other suitably qualified persons to assist in the decision.

Following the EBU’s “Best Behaviour in Bridge” initiative players are expected to conduct themselves in a fair and courteous manner at all times and to keep any personal issues away from the bridge table. Any breaches of this should be referred to the Tournament Director.
