Reminder

We would ask players to try to take their places 10-15mins before 7.00pm to allow time for the organisers to set out the correct table movement. If you are aware that you are going to be delayed please contact the club to let them know you are on your way.

Constitution Governing SMABBC

 

  1. The club shall be known as 'South Mansfield & Blidworth Bridge Club' (hereinafter called 'the Club') 

  2. The Management Committee shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) or at an Extraordinary Meeting.

  3. The Committee shall consist of Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and not less than 5 other members

  4. The AGM will be held during the first week in May (previously January – date amended following Committee Meeting 9th July 2018).

  5. Anyone wishing to retire from the Committee is asked to give one month's notice, in writing, addressed to the Committee

  6. Minutes of all meetings will be prepared by the Club Secretary (or whomsoever represents the Club Secretary in his/her absence)

  7. Proposals will be agreed by a simple majority vote based on a show of hands or otherwise determined by the Chairman

  8. All Banking related matters will be the preserve of the Club Treasurer

  9. The Club Accounts prepared by the Treasurer shall be audited annually by an Auditor approved by the Committee

Membership and Subscriptions

  1. Membership annual subscription to be determined by the Committee

  2. Membership annual subscriptions, to be paid annually, are due 1st April (previously subscriptions due by the end of February – date amended following Committee Meeting 9th July 2018).

  3. Membership may be relinquished 1) by written notice to the Secretary 2) at the request of the Committee (by unanimous agreement) or 3) by default (subscription fee not paid)

  4. The maximum number of Club members is at the discretion of the Committee

  5. Table fees and visitor fee to be decided by the Committee

  6. Visitors are welcome and will be requested to pay the current visitors table fee as agreed by the Committee however this may be waived at the discretion of the Treasurer, for example if free introductory sessions have been advertised or offered

Code of Practice

  1. Members are expected to uphold the Club image and philosophy of being a friendly, polite and welcoming club run by the members for the members at all times

  2. Any member or visitor judged by the Committee to be impolite or unpleasant may be asked to leave the club

  3. Players are expected to observe 'best behaviour' at the table at all times in accordance with guidelines circulated periodically by the Chairman. This includes, but is not limited to, greeting opponents on arrival at the table, being polite and friendly throughout and not criticising opponents or partners. Talking between hands should be done quietly so as not to disturb those still playing.

  Amalgamation Formalised
Amalgamation Formalised

The amalgamation of South Mansfield and Blidworth Bridge Clubs was formalised at an extra-ordinary meeting of the committees of both clubs on Monday 13th February 2018.  A new Committee was formed and issues relating to the merger were discussed and agreed.  A copy of the minutes of the meeting will be sent to all committee members in due course and posted on this website and on the club notice board in due course.
