| Starting pairs games on time |
To help start the pairs games on time, the club is implementing a new policy.
Five minutes before game time (e.g., at 12:25 PM for a 12:30 PM game), the director will determine the movement and set up the table markers based on existing reservations and the players currently present at the club. Please be in your seat and ready to play by this time.
Players arriving less than five minutes before game time without a reservation will unfortunately not be able to join the game unless a half table is available. We never want to turn anyone away, but we must ensure our directors have enough time to set up the appropriate movement and start the game on time.
Making a reservation is easy. You can sign up at the club, call 310-325-7222, or register online at southbaybridgeclub.com. If you are delayed while driving to the club, please call us to let the director know you are on the way, and we will hold your place.
THIS APPLIES TO MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY PAIRS GAMES

| AUGUST UPDATE: Daytime Eight is Enough |
The Daytime Eight is Enough games are now every Friday, 12:30PM (no Tuesdays)
All Daytime Eight is Enough games will be directed by Janice Scholler.
Created by Mary Oshlag in 2008, this 8 is Enough promotes the formation of balanced and competitive teams, ensuring an engaging and enjoyable experience for all participants. The Eight is Enough Swiss team format is especially advantageous for players seeking to gain experience and learn from more accomplished teammates, ultimately helping everyone prepare for future tournaments.
Team Composition and Player Ratings:
Players participating in the Daytime Eight is Enough event receive ratings based on their masterpoints: either a 1, 2, or 3. Teams are required to have a combined total of no more than 8 points when calculating the individual ratings of each member. For instance, a team could include one player rated 3, two players rated 2, and one player rated 1, resulting in a total of 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 8 points.
Rating Criteria for Daytime Eight is Enough
- Players with 200 or fewer masterpoints are assigned 1 point.
- Players with 201–700 masterpoints are assigned 2 points.
- Players with over 700 masterpoints are assigned 3 points.
Lookout for the email for 8 Enough game sent each week, sign up as individual, partners, or 4-man team. Or email Janice Scholler: Scholler.janice@gmail.com
