General Information
Western League 2024 - 2025

The Western League will run in the same form as last year. There will be 3 divisions A, B and C. There is an agreement that players in the C Division should have an NGS rating below Queen. All matches will be between teams of four over 24 boards using RealBridge. Matches start at 14:00, with a request that all players login at least 10 minutes before. Pairs will be automatically switched after 12 boards, so as to play the other half of the opposition team. Matches are normally finished by 17:00. Sarah Amos will be the Tournament Director. Somerset will supply one team to each division. Matches will be played on the following dates -

September 28th
November 2nd
December 7th
January 11th
February 1st
March 8th
April 5th

If you would like to represent Somerset in one of these matches, please let us know by sending an email to SCBA Selectors. I have already constructed a selection pool of over 60 players, and, if you are already receiving email from the Selection Committee, you do not need to register a second time.

The Selection Committee is composed of Andy Ridgers and Mike Smith, and is currently recruiting two new members. Please contact Andy if you are interested..

Formalities for Western League matches.
Matches are played on RealBridge, following the EBU's guidelines for that platform. Screens are not used.
Matches will be played as teams of four, in two stanzas. At half time, teams will change their opponents.
Where counties agree to play a teams of eight match, the match will be played as two separately scored teams of four. The overall result will be calculated by adding the imps result from both matches, and then converting to VPs.
No kibitzers are allowed during matches.
Undos are only allowed during bidding.
Please aim to be seated at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start, so that the director can check everyone is seated correctly.
Results will not be uploaded to the EBU, so there will be no cross imps and no NGS.
At the end of the season, final league results will be uploaded to the EBU and all masterpoints awarded at this point.
