We're off to the Royal Victoria Hotel in St Leonards (near Hastings) in the autumn, so put 2nd-4th November in your diary.

Have a look at the details below and book your weekend straightaway.

St Leonards-on-Sea is one mile west of Hastings and is so easy to find.  Drive south on the A21 for just over an hour and, when you can go no further, turn right.  You're in St Leonards.

Or, you could catch the train to St Leonards Warrior Square (about £24 return) and you'll be within a mile of the hotel.

Please take a look at the hotel's website - Royal Victoria Hotel

We'll have the usual four sessions of bridge (Friday & Saturday evenings; Saturday and Sunday mornings).

Most of the catering will be what we're all used to.  But as a change to the norm, there will be a carvery Sunday lunchtime.

What's Good...
The Hotel is ours for the Weekend

If we have sufficient numbers the hotel will not take any bookings apart from ourselves, though they will open the Sunday Carvery to the public.

The View from the Restaurant

Wake up and take in the wonderful view of the English Channel whilst having a leisurely breakfast in the restaurant.  But please, do get to the adjacent bridge room on time!

The Rooms

All rooms are spacious (in fact all are twins or doubles) AND there are no single person supplements.
What's Bad...
What's Bad...

Both good and bad here, the Royal Victoria has the main coastal road to the front, the A259, with the beach opposite and then the sea.  Whilst all rooms are two floors above street level, if you are a very light sleeper you may be better off taking a rear facing room.

The area is a bit run down, but hey, we're there for the bridge - Hastings is only one mile to the east and Bexhill four to the west.
Getting There
Finding St Leonards

By Car
: St Leonards-on-Sea is one mile west of Hastings and is so easy to find. Drive south on the A21 for just over an hour and, when you can go no further, turn right.  You're in St Leonards.

By Rail: The nearest station is St Leonards Warrior Square (about 3/4 mile).  Go down the hill to the seafront and turn right.  This is on a direct line from Bromley South (£24.90), Orpington (£23.40).  Prices based on "open return" (not "standard return" which is valid for one day only).

Finding the Hotel

In both cases, once you have turned right at the seafront, the hotel is on the right hand side of the road (obviously, otherwise you would be in the sea) - a large white building with a blue canopy at the entrance.

Parking
The Royal Victoria Hotel was built in the 1820s and as such isn't blessed with too many parking spaces on site, so most of us will be on the street.  While this would be a problem in the height of summer, there should be ample spaces around the hotel in November.

On the plus side: parking is free to the rear of the hotel.  If it is necessary to park in the car park, which is on the seafront and almost opposite the hotel, it will cost just £2.00 a day with a voucher.  Vouchers can be purchased from reception.
