| How Member Bios are done an Example |
I was looking at other Bridgewebs sites and was drawn to one in Tucson, AZ because one of the Bios mentioned Sioux City. The player is Sue Nieland. I knew her husband Maury, from my law practice. The Tucson club is called "Adobe" and their site is a great example of what a Bridgewebs site can be. Here is a link to the Adobe Site. I tried to link directly to Sue's bio on the site but was unsuccessful. Try the link to the Adobe site, at the top is a TAB "Adobe Business" and under that tab is "Family" you will find her there and a click will take you to her Bio. It appears she did not start playing bridge until after retirement and leaving Sioux City. Makes my personal note below, seem rather bare.

I grew up with bridge. I have jokingly said my first toy was an Autobridge board and my first book was the 4 3 2 1 Student Manual. Neither story is quite true, but close enough. By the way of familia connections, my grand mother Hazel Metcalf ran all the bridge games in the Iowa Great Lakes region in the 1960s and early 70s. My father taught bridge at the Jewish Community Center in Sioux City in the 1950s. Despite my family back ground I did not play my first duplicate game until 1972. My father said he want to be sure I could count to 13 before he would play with me. (I was 23 before he and I played duplicate.) I have played bridge nearly every where I have lived. My best friends and warmest social relationships have always been bridge related.
Between 1972 and 1983 I played primarily in Iowa City. A growing family and pressing career issues kept me away from the game between 1984 and 1997. I began playing primarily on line in 1997. I happily left the practice of Law in 2023 and started playing with the Siouxland Duplicate Bridge Club in 2024. My bridge related goals include finding ways to grow our Siouxland club by involving new players with the competitive duplicate environment.
My family consists of my wife Susan, daughters Amy Kreaplin in Cedar Rapids and Meredith Burke in Houston Tx. Grandsons Everett (16) and Fletcher (13) in Cedar Rapids and Granddaughter Iris (12) and Grandson Trevor (6) in Houston. I consider Moville to be my "Hometown."
