Sad News

I am sorry to report that one of our altos, Sally Davies died recently. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to her family and friends at this sad time.

Here follows an excerpt from a moving tribute by her friend Linda Thomas.

"I'm sorry to be the bearer of very sad news, but one of our choir members, my dear friend Sally Davies, died on 8th February, aged 60. We joined the choir as Altos together only a few years ago just after Alex took over. We sat on the far left, near the back and although she was already suffering with COPD, a degenerative lung disease, she really enjoyed singing with the choir even though she often found breathing difficult. She said it was very good therapy. I wanted everyone to know how much she appreciated the warm welcome and the wonderful conducting and that she took great pleasure in the many different pieces of music we sang. She really looked forward to rehearsals and concerts and attended whenever she could. So many smiles! I felt very privileged to be her friend."

Shifnal Chorale

The Shifnal Chorale is a mixed voice choir based in Shifnal with rehearsals during school term times, at 7.30pm on Monday evenings at Trinity Methodist Church, Victoria Road, Shifnal TF11 8AE.

Shifnal Chorale presents concerts of more serious musical works in the spring and autumn, together with a traditional Christmas carol concert and a programme of light music in the summer. Concerts take place across Shropshire in Shifnal, Albrighton, Broseley, Wellington, Madeley and Much Wenlock. There is also an annual choral workshop in the spring, open to everyone, especially those who may be wondering what it's like to sing in a mixed choir.

The Chorale is registered with both British Choirs on the Net and Gerontius, which are support groups for choirs in the UK.
