Jerome (Jerry) “Tuffy” Ivan Wolter, age 83, of Green Valley, Arizona, passed away on December 24, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry remained positive throughout his illness and fought the good fight with strength and grace.
Jerry was born on February 11, 1943, in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, the son of Jess and Dorothy (née Huebner) Wolter. While attending Cedarburg High School, he had an impressive athletic career in baseball, track, and football. In track, he set a school record in the 880-yard run. He lettered in football for two years and, during his senior year, played center, served as team captain, was named team MVP, earned All-Conference honors in the Braveland Conference, and received State Honorable Mention.
Following graduation, Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he worked in aircraft maintenance during the Vietnam War. This experience launched a long and successful career in aircraft maintenance, which he continued until his retirement in 2011.
Jerry married Andrea (Sally Hurth - née Scott) on April 13, 2013 in Cottonwood, Arizona. Together, they shared a love of travel and adventure, enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, lived their faith through active church involvement, and treasured laughter and meaningful conversations with friends both old and new.
Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory include his wife, Andrea Wolter-Scott; his daughter, Anne Tuggle (née Wolter), son-in-law Rick Tuggle; Grandchildren Allison, Jeffrey and Marissa Tuggle, his sister, Sharon Oberheu (née Wolter); and extended family and friends who will deeply miss his warm, welcoming demeanor.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Wolter and Alec Wolter, and his brother-in- law, Roy Oberheu.
A service will take place on January 29th at 11 AM at the Dessert Hill Lutheran Church, Green Valley, AZ. There will be a visitation prior to the service and a luncheon following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jerry’s memory may be directed to Dessert Hill Lutheran Church.
