THE NEW RESERVATION SYSTEM
Thanks to the wonderful work of Bob Bullemer, the new reservation system is now
working smoothly, having ironed out all the kinks. If you have any problems with it,
please reply to this email and we will get it sorted out.
FIND A PARTNER
If you need a partner for an upcoming game, you can now add your name to a partner
list for that game and see who else is looking. How it works:
- Log in to the reservation system and click Find Partner.
- Select an upcoming game. Each game shows how many members are currently looking for a partner.
- View the list of players seeking a partner, including their name, email, phone number, and master points, so you can contact them directly.
- Need a partner? Click Add Me – I Need a Partner. Once you've found one, click Remove Me.
- Joining the partner list does not reserve a seat. After finding a partner, both players should make a reservation as usual.
EMERGENCY CONTACT BOOK
If you haven’t already done so, and would like to have an emergency contact
for you at the club, please fill out the sheet at the “check-in” desk.
DONATIONS AND A NEW “TIP JAR”
The Club is currently running at a small deficit each month, so in lieu of increasing the fee to play,
we are suggesting you might like to make a small tax-deductible donation. (You can do so by check or via Zeffy on the main website.)
Also, we have reinstated a “tip jar” so if you take a soda or make a cup of coffee, you might wish to drop something in the jar.
NEW APPLICATIONS BEING DEVELOPED
We are fortunate to have some very bright and talented Club members who are developing their own Bridge applications.
Larry Harter has been working on a program that uses AI to analyze a game after all hands have been played.
He is Beta testing it right now. The Board has approved making it available on a two-month trial basis
to all who are interested. We will have a meeting in August at which
Larry will explain the program, and everyone will have an opportunity to sign up to test it for the 2-month trial period. More information to follow.
Rich Brown is testing a program he wrote that enables players to electronically keep track of the bids in each game.
You may see people Beta testing it over the next couple of months.
The combination of Larry and Rich’s programs promises to enhance Beginning and Intermediate Bridge
players’ abilities to see where and how to improve their games.
YOUTH BRIDGE CAMP UPDATE
Many, many thanks to Liz Heron, Carol Rezek, and Lynda Weinman and all the volunteer mentors
whose efforts paid off in a very, very successful weeklong Bridge Camp for youth.
Liz brought Aaron Mohrman, an experienced youth Bridge teacher, down from Seattle.
We had 26 kids sign up for the inaugural experience. Liz plans to continue working with the kids periodically through the summer.
