Upcoming Lessons
♠   ♣
Hello everyone,
I intend to restart lessons early in September.
Most of you are more confident but I can also see areas open to improvement. Signalling stands out as something which would make a huge difference to most of us. One of the most popular techniques is the Losing Trick Count. Some of you are using it well and others seem to forget how useful it can be. I see more of a need to perhaps look at card play too. Planning is always important and getting the basics sorted is also vital.
My intention is to do blocks of lessons but go into areas in a bit more depth.
I want to use the Teaching Table more and do half the hands there and let you play the rest. I want to make sure everyone "understands" what we are learning and I think playing hands I have prepared, at the teaching table will work well and let us discuss them as a group.
I think we can work more on how to defend better too.
Please let me know if there is a topic or an area you really want to work on, and I will endeavour to cover that. I think experience tells me that it is much better to try to cover less but do it in more depth and at a pace everyone feels comfortable with. Some of the hands I have been preparing require a bit of thought. You are all going to be capable of working things out and it will be my job to cover themes which help you to improve your bridge while at the same time try to introduce play techniques to improve your game.
It is also my intention to have a tournament every week where the hands will be prepared and will involve areas we will be covering in the lessons.
I will be doing classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on Thursday mornings. Please let me know which class suits you best.
kind regards
Raymond
