NGS and MP Rankings

There are two methods by which the EBU ranks and grades its members.

1. Master Point (MP) Rank

Master Points are cumulative, so your MP Rank represent a lifetime achievement record. Master Points can be gained on every club evening, including ECATS charity events, and also at external competitions, both regional and national, run by the EBU. Your current MP Rank can be seen by logging on to Members Only on this web site. For an explanation of Master, Green, Blue and Local points see under Documents / EBU Master Points.

2. National Grading Scheme (NGS) Grade

Your NGS grade is a measure of current form (rather like a golf handicap), so your grading will fluctuate with time, based on your scores in recent results. NGS Grades are divided into 13 playing card bands, ranging from Ace at the top to Two at the bottom. Each band covers a 2% range of grade values, with Eight representing a range of 49–51 percent, roughly in the middle. Again, your current NGS band can be seen by logging on to Members Only on this web site.

You can view full historical information on your MP Rank and NGS Grade by logging on to the Members area of the EBU website (My EBU). You can even enquire on other EBU members' NGS grades (which can be filtered by name or county) by following the link to NGS on the EBU website, or by clicking here.
