Sue Robinson, Eva Butler.

Minutes of 2024 AGM

These were agreed as a true record and there were no matters arising.

Chairman’s Report

Graham talked about how pleased he was that the Club had been able to keep the numbers of tables between 4 and 5 for most weeks, though there had been understandable drops in attendance on some occasions. He thanked all the members who continue to keep the meetings running by helping with all the jobs involved, with a special mention to Francis for providing the dealt boards each week.

Graham was thanked for keeping the Club going in his roles both as Chairman and Director.

Treasurer’s Report

Beverly presented the accounts which had been reviewed by Kevin Farrell and found to be a true and fair view reflection of the Club’s financial situation. They were proposed by Tony and accepted by a show of hands. Beverly asked that because of the increase in the hall rent, the table money could be increased from £2 to £3, to keep the finances in a healthy state. Members had been made aware of this before the meeting and there had been no objections.

She was thanked for all the hard work and skill she had put into taking over the role as Treasurer, especially as she took over in the middle of the Club’s financial year.

Election of Officers

There has not a Club Secretary for several years but Mary put her name forward for this role. She was proposed by Graham and seconded by Tony and elected onto the Committee.

Other members of the Committee were elected unopposed by a show of hands.

Any Other Business

  • Tony pointed out that the amount of noise in the hall was often excessive, made louder by the low ceiling, and is frequently distracting for members trying to play. He also described how some players cause damage to the boards by dropping them on the floor. A show of hands supported both matters and Mary said she would send an email to address this.
  • Lesley kindly agreed to help on the Committee, and she will be invited to discuss this with them.

There being no other business the meeting closed at 1.00pm
