Book Mini-Course - Declarer Play
Declarer Play Mini course

You are booking for the Declarer Play mini-course which will be held twice a week over a period of 4 weeks. Each week there will be a session on Tuesday evenings (starting 7pm) and on Thursday mornings (starting 10am). The course will start on 7th April, immediately after Easter, and finish on 30th April.  Currently there are 13 people booked for Tuesday evenings and 12 for Thursday mornings - if you book at this point you may receive a "course full" message - if you do, please get in touch with Richard to discuss.

It is intended for those who have completed the beginner's course and want a recap on their existing knowledge as well as to cover a little new ground. This would also be ideal for those attending supervised play, gentle duplicates or Richard's workshops.

Each session costs £20 - so the full course costs £80. If you can't attend one week thats fine - its not a problem if you wish to switch between Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings because of other plans.

The course will be held at the clubhouse and be led by Luiz Lima.

There is no need to have a partner - but of course please feel free to invite someone along as your partner if you wish to build your partnership understanding together. From May onwards, Luiz will continue to run Declarer Play workshops in these same timeslots. You don't need to pre-book those, just come along as and when you can, and continue to work on your declarer play.

The course will cover the following topics:

Week 1

Suit combinations: establishing suits, unblocking, basic finesses

Week 2 Communication: managing entries between hands
Week 3

Planning No Trump contracts: counting winners, creating extra tricks, spotting dangers, and basic holding-up play

Week 4 Planning suit contracts: counting winners and losers; trump management; how to get rid of losers
