You are registering for the club heat of the EBU Year-End Congress Mixed and Open Pairs on Wednesday Dec 29th. Full EBU information about the rest of the online congress can be found here and about the hybrid club/online events here.
Both the Mixed and the Open Pairs are 2-session events played in the morning and afternoon - ie you must be available to play all day ! The approx start times for the two sessions are 11am and 3.30pm (TBC based on numbers and EBU guidance at the time). Both events are Green Pointed (for the top 50% of the field) and Level 4 Systems are permitted. The results will be merged with other club heats as well as with the EBU's online event - although there will also be separate prizes for those playing live vs online. Richard Banbury will be the TD in charge.
The club heat is open to all EBU members - and the table money of £20/player is the same for members and visitors. This compares very favourably to the one-day rate of £35 if playing in the EBU online event. Table money for club members will be charged to their online club accounts, while visitors should pay on arrival (credit/debit card only). Discounted rates will apply for juniors.
Please indicate on the booking form whether you are entering the Mixed or the Open Pairs. The club hopes to hold separate heats of both the Mixed and the Open Pairs, assuming we will have a minimum of 7 tables in each section. If numbers are low, then we will merge any Mixed Pairs entries into the Open Pairs. If you need help finding a partner please let us know by emailing Julia.
Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day - but we may ask for you to pre-order any food for lunch on your arrival so as to ensure a prompt service during the break. All payments at the club are made using credit/debit cards - no cash! Visitor street parking is available and the club can supply parking vouchers at a cost of £2/session.
Ref COVID - the club does request that all visitors to the club be double vaccinated or otherwise exempt. This is part of the club's protocols for maintaining the safety of everyone visiting our premises. Masks are not currently mandatory. We review these regularly and in line with government guidance. If you may have come in contact with COVID in the run-up to the event, please contact Julia to let us know. If you have a cold/flu or any COVID symptoms we do ask you not to come to the club.
