Rest In Peace
Rest In Peace

After a sudden illness George Goddard passed away on February 20th.

George gained a great of enjoyment from both social and competitive bridge, always eager to help others improve their game.

In his younger years when working in both the Sudan and Jordan helped organise tournaments and fundraising events for charities.

He had been a member for more than 20 years, often playing 3 or 4 times every week, most recently with John Mullaly.

Many congratulations to Alan Bamford and Lyn Poole on their win in the club's main event of the year, the Championship Pairs on Feb 14th with 58%, ahead of Chris Bonser and Kathy Gee on 56%.

This was a great come back - they were placed just off the bottom after the first half of the session.

Alan's son, Andrew, won the same event 19 years ago in 2007 playing with Angela McCready who also played in this year's final!
