Ireland Win Camrose Trophy

Many congratulations to the Irish team on winning the Camrose Trophy (home international championship) for the first time since 2017.

Having established a good lead by winning all five of their matches in the first weekend in Dublin in January, Ireland maintained that lead throughout the second weekend in Wales, and led from start to finish, culminating in a convincing victory over the Welsh Bridge Union team, which meant that there were no last-minute jitters, and seeing off the challenge of another strong English side.

Our team was Mark Moran, John Carroll, Adam Mesbur, Nick FitzGibbon (both weekends), Anna Onishuk, Karel De Raeymaeker (second weekend), Tom Hanlon, Conor Boland (first weekend), with NPC Gráinne Barton.

IBU Senior Trials

Well done to Team Garvey (Donal Garvey, Pat Quinn, Michael McAuliffe, David Dunne, Paul Porteous, Fred Barry), who emerged victorious in this week’s trials, and will represent Ireland in the European Seniors Championship in Riga in the summer.

Regent History Book 1925-2025

"In 1924 a man called Graham put a small advertisement in a Dublin newspaper asking if anyone was interested in playing the increasingly popular game of bridge. Over the next few months others joined the group for games. By early 1925 they had the idea of forming a club - the first in Dublin, and indeed Ireland - devoted soley to playing bridge. Hence, the birth of the Regent." This book contains 192 pages of bridge history accompanied by hundreds of photographs taken during the past ten decades.
